My initial reaction was that I might be getting in over my head. Can my 49 year old brain (and hands!) really do this? Can I keep up with students half my age? Will I have enough time in my family and work schedule to do the course justice?
Fortunately, those thoughts have subsided and are being replaced with a sense of excitement and anticipation. Part of that is happening because of increasing familiarity with my professor and students. Also, I know a lot of the signs that we are using early on.
My biggest problem right now is getting accustomed to ASL grammar and syntax. I'm sure it will be easier as I gain more experience and exposure.
I feel that my fingerspelling is improving and that my vocabulary is growing.
The adventure continues . . .
